What Does Solubility Mean in Chemistry?
What Does Solubility Mean in Chemistry? What does solubility mean in chemistry? If you are looking for a simple, easy to understand answer to this question, it's simple - it means how solids dissolve in liquids. This is the basis of all chemists' work - from the experiments to the charts and records that they write. It's important to think about solubility in terms of viscosity. Visible solid substances are either very thin or very thick when they pass through a liquid. It can be described as their 'apparent' thickness. Think of it as if you were measuring the space between two thin pancakes, one which is already baked and the other which is just being cooled off. The first one will fall into the second - so when passing through the latter one, the first one will seem thinner. Now, let's say we have a mixture of things, each of which is water, but with different properties: each has a density which is different to the other, and each one has its own viscosity. Each time a piece of the m ixture touches a piece of the solid, it will push its density towards the thinner one, which is then pulled back out by the thicker one - until the two get to a state of equilibrium, where they are evenly dispersed. This applies to all liquids: water for example. Any of the water molecules in the mixture are required to push their own density towards the denser one, which is in turn pulled back out, leaving the more dense part in contact with the less dense. Think of it like the way cars push towards each other - the more popular the car, the faster they move. The more the car is needed to push itself forward, the slower it goes, and if you add more speed, you need more force to push it forwards.Solubilityis also a very important concept in chemical bonding. One of the main principles behind chemistry is that molecules should form stable bonds between themselves. You can't achieve this when you use different types of atoms for the different elements, so you have to use the same type of atom for all - because otherwise, when one of the atoms is excited, it causes a change in the properties of the rest of the molecule, leading to undesirable behaviour.Another example of solubility in chemistry is the fact that polar molecules (those that are in a solution) can 'float' on top of a non-polar one, allowing the solution to have a high-viscosity. This means that the amount of energy required to stop the polar molecules is much less than that required to stop the non-polar ones. So, when you don't allow the solution to form the correct type of ice crystal, the solution becomes highly viscous. Imagine the amount of power that is required to turn a car, when it has no power - the problem with this is that the friction will wear out the car! And this is exactly what happens when you apply a non-polar solution to the polar ones.Solubility is a very important concept in chemistry - and many other fields as well. So, if you want to learn more about it, you can go to your loc al library or bookshop, and you'll probably find plenty of information and references.

Importance of Early College Preparation
Importance of Early College Preparation College preparation is extremely important to college success for students. Although many decisions are made during the senior year, it is best to begin the college process as early as high school freshman year. Knowing this, itâs crucial for freshman students to complete these tasks before the end of the school year: Answer the questions: How are you doing academically? How would you rate your current academic performance? If you feel as if you are struggling, now is the time to get some help from a tutor and make sure you will be able to pass your tests. If you are unprepared, you can fail an assignment or class, which leads to stress and hopelessness. Get involved in a school activity. Being a member of the chess club, art club, sports, etc. is a great way to dive into your passions and interests outside the classroom. If you are having difficulty, talk to someone (teacher, tutor, or counsellor). Make a plan for next years courses. Advanced classes should certainly be a part of this plan. Choose an inspiring community service project such as collecting toys for a local shelter, planting a community garden etc. Make some preliminary college visits. Wander around, explore the campuses, talk to students. Find out what you like and dont like about the campuses. Itâs never too early to visit colleges ??

ESL Correct Usage Of The Article `the`
ESL Correct Usage Of The Article `the` Just like many of our students who find tutors on the TutorZ site, I am also an English as a second (ESL) language speaker. For ESL speakers like us, the correct usage of the definite article the can be somewhat hazy My ESL friend Anna Niko is a Russian speaker. The Russian language uses no articles whatsoever. So for Anna, using articles has been particularity interesting. Thats why she taught at TutorZ the following: The definite article the is the most frequent word in English. We use the definite article in front of a noun when we believe the listener knows exactly what we are referring to. For example: The president of the United States The moon is so big tonight. Further uses of the definite article if there is only one in that place or in those surroundings: Dad, can I borrow the car? We live next to the church. We also use the definite article when we say something about all the things referred to by a noun: The wolf is not really a dangerous animal. The kangaroo is found only in Australia. When we use countries the usage of the define article becomes tricky. The is dropped when we refer to Germany, Italy, and France, even though these countries are very unique, in fact the only one existing. We dont say the Germany, the Italy, the France. However, when talking about countries that consist of individual parts such as the US (United States), the UK (United Kingdom), the UAE (United Arabic Emirates) then the article the is kept. Note the correct usage of the definite article in The US vs. England The Russian Federation vs. Russia In a similar vain, the definite article is dropped before days of the week, parks, streets, mountains and lakes. For example, Ive been to Lake Ontario. However, unlike lakes, when referring to oceans, the definite article is kept. For example, we overflew the Atlantic Ocean. The picture below illustrates how the usage of the the depends on its context. In summary, use the definite article is used before singular and plural nouns when the noun is specific or particular. If in doubt, ask one of our 3000+ ESL tutors.
